Former Arsenal midfielder, Emmanuel Petit has asked Declan Rice to be more nasty on the field.
He mentioned that he has higher expectations for the Englishman and wants him to take on a leadership role in the team.
The Gunners played against Manchester United in the Premier League at the Emirates on Sunday and lost the match 3-2.
After losing the game, their lead at the top of the table was reduced to four points.
It also meant they lost points in their third straight league match and following the game, Emmanuel Petit talked to talkSPORT, “For me, I’m expecting more from him [Declan Rice].
“The likes of William Saliba, Gabriel as well. Those guys have been really good for two or three seasons already. They are leaders on the field, but I want them to be nasty.
“I don’t want him to be ‘Mr Nice’. If you’re hearing this, Declan, I want you to be really nasty on the field. I want you to bully the opponents. I want you to be rude to your teammates too.
“I want those guys to act as if they’re thinking about becoming champions and to behave like real champions.
There’s something missing in your character and personality during the game.
“I want him to be similar to Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira, and Tony Adams. I want the opponent to be scared of you whenever you have to battle for the ball.”
Rice has been an important player for Arsenal since he joined from West Ham United in 2023.
He has played 135 games for the team and scored 20 goals while also giving 28 assists.
