Everyone respects him – Lamine Yamal names best football player of all time.

 

Barcelona winger, Lamine Yamal, has named Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi as the best player of all time.

According to the Spain international, everyone respects Messi for what he has achieved in the sport.

Yamal was speaking after he won the Best Young Athlete award at the 2026 Laureus Awards ceremony in Madrid on Monday.

“Leo Messi is the best football player of all time. If he’s not the best athlete of all time, he’s certainly among them,” Yamal said as quoted by Barça Universal.

“Everyone respects him for what he’s achieved, and I hope I can follow in his footsteps.”

Messi is the most decorated footballer, having won over 45 trophies in his career, including the World Cup.

At the age of 38, Messi is at the tail-end of his career, and the Argentina forward is expected to play his last World Cup tournament in the summer.
